Lisbon Falls

There are many waterfalls in the Mpumalanga province of South Africa, such as the Berlin Falls, but these are, at 92 metres, the highest.

The Lisbon Falls are located near Graskop on what is known, for good reason, as the Panorama Route.

The falls are on the Lisbon River and are "plunge" type falls in that the water falls vertically without making contact with the rock surface. When you see them, you will notice that there are two main columns of water falling side by side.

The falls are named after the capital city of Portugal and there is also a large farm named "Lisbon" nearby.

To get to the Lisbon Falls travel north on the R532 from Graskop. Look for the turnoff to the left after a few kilometres. Travel 2.2 km along the gravel road until you see the turn-off to the falls.
