Free State

The small town of Deneysville was founded in 1936 and took its name from Deneys Reitz who was the son of the former Orange Free State president Francis Reitz.

Deneysville is located in the Free State on the shores of the Vaal Dam. The town is home to four yachting clubs and many club and national races are held each year.

The history of the area goes back to the Stone-age when the San people lived in the area. The Khoikoi followed them and there are still remnants of their dwellings in the area. One can visit the towns library to see some of the artifacts that have been found in the area.

Besides boating there are a number of activities one can do nearby. These include the Deneysville Croc Ranch, the Historic Motorbike Museum and it is a popular fishing spot.

There are a variety of accommodation options available in Deneysville.
