Hoedspruit is a small town located in an agricultural area that also has many places of interest for tourists. The name Hoedspruit is Afrikaans for 'Hat Creek'.

Tourism is important for Hoedspruit and there are many game reserves and sanctuaries within driving distance from the town. These include the Hoedspruit Wildlife Estate, Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre, IKinyonga Reptile Park and the Moholoholo Wild Rehabilitation Centre.

If you are prepared to travel further afield then you can use Hoedspruit as a base to visit numerous places of interest in Mpumalanga and Limpopo.

Visitors have many options for accommodation. These include B&B's, guest houses, safari lodges, self-catering and camping.
