The Wildebeest's guide to South Africa

Terra Firma, a North West village

Afrikaans name: Terra Firma

Terra Firma is a small village in the North West province of South Africa. It is situated on the R378, between Vryberg and Werda, near the Botswana border.

Terra Firma is located in a semi-arid region which is sparsely populated with no towns of any size nearby. If you are visiting this area, you are strongly advised to take all your provisions with as you may not be able to buy what you need.

Accommodation is available at “Working with Wildlife” which is 22 km away from Terra Firma. This is a privately owned Big 5 reserve.

The term "terra firma" is a Latin phrase that refers to "firm land" and I am not sure how it relates to this area.

Molopo Game Reserve is approximately 50 km away.
