Paarl is scenic town situated about 60 km from Cape Town. It is the third oldest town in South Africa.

Paarl is the largest town in the Cape Winelands and attracts many tourists for this and other reasons.

Up above the town, on the slopes of Paarl Mountain, is a monument to the Afrikaans language. It is called the "Afrikaanse Taalmonument" and is well worth a visit. Wonderful views of Paarl can be had on the drive to the monument.

The town also boasts some really old examples of Cape Dutch architecture, some dating back to the 17th century.

Have you visited Paarl. What is there to do in the area?
