To get to the Engelhard Dam View Site one needs to follow S62 gravel road that skirts the northern bank of Engelhard Dam. The view site is 10 km from H1-6 tar road. It is worth taking all the short loops down to the dam on your way to the lookout point.

To be honest the view site itself does not give one the greatest views. The best views of the dam are available on the road leading up to the view site.

At the Engelhard Dam View Site one can get out the car and stretch ones legs but be sure to obey the rules on the signpost!

To the east of the site is Longwe hill which is 480 metres high. The view point is just located into the rugged habitat zone that is known as Lebombo Mountain Bushveld. This is one of the very few spots that ventures into this habitat. This is not the best habitat for game viewing but it is home to some species such as Giraffe, Kudu, Impala and Klipspringer.

Is the Engelhard Dam view point worth visiting?
