Unions End is more of a point on a map rather than a town. It is situated at the northern-most point of the South Africa side of the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park. If you are wondering why it is called “Union’s” End well it refers back to the days when South Africa was named the Union of South Africa and this was the end of the Union.

At Unions End the countries of Namibia, Botswana and South Africa meet. The Nossob River, which forms the eastern border of Namibia, flows past this point. In fact, the official point where South Africa, Namibia and Botswana meet is located in the middle of the normally dry riverbed.

Unions End is situated in the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park. It is a long drive to get to this place as it is located 284 km from Twee Rivieren Camp. There is not a lot to see here besides an information board, but it does give one a sense of escape from the world as you realise how far away from any real form of civilisation you are.

Have you travelled to Union's End?
